Description
L 'Abbadia Ardenghesca is an ancient monastery just a few kilometres from Civitella Marittima, along the road that from Grosseto leads to Siena.
The construction date of the 'building is not certain. What we know from a Papal bubble of 1143 is that l 'abbey existed as early as 1063.
L 'Abbey was probably founded by the Ardengheschi family. During the twelfth century he represented one of the most important monastic bodies in Tuscany.
L 'implantation dell 'Abbey is Romanesque.
